Founded in 1898, Ardmore is the only distillery in the Highlands to have always produced a peated single malt. Made with local peat from January to March and September to December, it is peated to between 12 and 14 ppm. Remarkably natural, this outstanding version is a sensational illustration of the Ardmore style. Rustic, bucolic, empyreumatic and mineral, the palette of flavours and aromas showcases an Oloroso sherry cask that dresses fruity, lemony and milky aspects in fino sherry.

Slightly Peated

Nose : Rich, concentrated. The deep first nose is malty, herbaceous (cut hay), rooty (gentian), vanilla and empyreumatic (turpentine, fuel oil). Allowed to breathe, intense smoke invades the air, while aromas of lime, agave and fresh walnut appear.

Appearance : Jaune doré.

Palate : Full, dense. The animal attack (bacon, smoked fish) is also unctuously liquorice, oily (olive) and lemony. The mid-palate is also milky (almond, agave) and mineral (schist, tar).

Overall : Long, luxuriant. The finish opens with images of white flowers growing on volcanic soil. In the after-taste, flavours of germinating barley take us onto a malting floor. The empty glass releases fermentary aromas of washbacks in full motion.
