Equipped with six Oregon Pine washbacks, three 17,875-litre wash stills and three 14,693-litre spirit stills, the Glentauchers distillery produces a single malt used in many famous blended Scotches, including Teacher’s, Ballantine’s and Buchanan’s Black & White. This version selected by Angus MacRaild (founder of Decadent Drinks) shows great vitality and proclaims its freedom of expression loud and proud. Its ethereal and refined palette of flavours and aromas notably includes an irrepressibly fresh expression.

Nose : Rich, complex. The candied (plum, pear), honeyed (lime blossom, heather) and tertiary (date and dried fig) first nose also displays a magnificent rancio (apricot, brandied cherries). Allowed to breathe, cocoa powder and grated ginger shower the aroma palette.

Appearance : Vieil or soutenu.

Palate : Full-bodied, elegant. Coated in a fine layer of salted butter caramel, the attack is also characterized by notes of candied citrus fruit (lemon, mandarin). The nobly spiced mid-palate (cardamom, clove) develops incredibly sophisticated chocolate registers.

Overall : Long, rich. Delicious raisin and peach skin tannins gently envelop the taste buds initially. The exotic after-taste (banana, mango) lingers with flavours of biscuit, toffee and remarkably fresh coffee cream.
