THAI RUM : Shakara 12 Year Old is a molasses rum from Thailand.

PROFILE : This molasses rum displays a rich and spicy profile, featuring notes of tropical fruit, vanilla and toasted oak. Crafted from local molasses and distilled in a column still, it is matured for twelve years in the tropical climate of Thailand.

DID YOU KNOW ? The name "Shakara" comes from the Sanskrit root of the word sugar, recalling the Asian origins of sugarcane cultivation.

Color : Cuivre orangé.

Nose : Both refined and heady. Nutty aromas (almond, walnut) appear alongside deeply elegant fragrances of beeswax, heather honey and toffee. Allowed to breathe, a lovely rancio reduction (apricot, cherries in brandy) highlights its exuberant character.

Palate : Clean, lively. The dynamic attack wavers between flavours of cane sugar, exotic fruit (mango, papaya) and fresh fig. Rock candy and salted butter caramel then highlight the perfectly integrated wood.

Overall : Long, silky. The medicinal finish (mustard seed) quickly develops vanilla notes (flan). In the after-taste, a fine layer of liquorice gently coats the taste buds. The end of the finish is floral (jasmine, geranium, hyacinth) and resinous (thuja).
