Founded in 1975, the Allt-a-Bhainne distillery produces a single malt primarily used for blends such as 100 Pipers. For some years now, it has also made a lightly peated version (10-20 ppm) that represents around 30-50% of its production. This Allt-a-Bhainne’s rich, deep and complex palette of flavours and aromas is drawn out on the retro-nasal olfaction with notes of vanilla and a very intense finish.

Color : Acajou.

Nose : Rich, concentrated. Aromas of candied fig, Russian leather, brandied cherries and raisin pair together with rare depth. Allowed to breathe, the very pleasantly rustic aroma palette is characterized by notes of prune and truffle that create the feel of a Bas-Armagnac.

Palate : Unctuous, full-bodied. The powdery attack (cocoa, ginger) also becomes chocolatey and liquoricey. On the mid-palate, stewed fruits (greengage plum, damson plum) are covered in caramel and toffee.

Overall : Long, fleshy. The fresh and juicy (blood orange) start of the finish is also like a delicious apricot tart. Noble spices (cardamom) and Havana cigar notes then gradually intensify the after-taste.
