All about making whisky
A must have LMDW“ The Buffalo Trace distillery produces two Single Barrel Bourbons - the more classic Blanton’s, characterised by notes of vanilla and ripe fruits; And Eagle Rare, which is more unusual, drier and more complex. Very herbaceous, veering on the medicinal, it develops subtle leather notes. We like both equally, switching between the two depending on our mood. We have been distributing these two single barrels and all of the Buffalo Trace distillery’s whiskeys on the French market since 1995.
One of the most highly-acclaimed single barrels is back in our selection list. Founded in 1975 by the Seagram company, Eagle Rare, a product of the Buffalo Trace distillery, fell into Sazerac’s hands in 1989. Transformed into a 10 Year Old single barrel, this highly gourmand version displays notes of coconut, crème brûlée, dried pears and apples coated in spices.
Style: Generous and gourmand. Nose: Wood fire. Dried pears and apples. Coconut. Palate: Salted caramel, crème brûlée. Gingerbread. Finish: Mellow.
