ARMORIK

Brand ARMORIK
The first French whisky is born in Brittany, at the heart of the Warenghem distillery. This independent company, founded in 1900 in Lannion, carries on the legacy of an ancient tradition of brandy production. Where artisanal methods and unique know-how are passionately nurtured. And where they proudly cultivate the pioneering spirit of their ancestors. It was in 1987 that Gilles Leizour, a pharmacist with a passion for whisky, invented the first French whisky: a blend of barley and wheat, christened WB for "Whisky Breton", which was in fact the very first whisky produced in Brittany and in France. This is where the whisky adventure begins... By dint of perseverance, a distillery dedicated to whisky production was inaugurated in 1994, before unveiling the single malt Armorik in 1998. A single malt whisky sculpted by the Breton climate. In Lannion, the chisel of storms stirring up the waves has sculpted landscapes of savage beauty, tamed only by crystalline light. The entire whisky-making process, from brewing to bottling, takes place at the distillery. And it's when it comes to ageing that Brittany makes its strongest mark: the temperate climate, with its constant temperatures, fresh winds wet with sea spray and generous rainfall, favours slow, harmonious maturation in the shade of our cellars. The singularity of this climate and territory creates a unique bond with Armorik whisky, which is why it is part of the "Whisky Breton" geographical indication.
