WILLETT
In the spring of 1936, at the age of 27, Thomson Willet founded the independent, family-run Willet Distillery, a post-prohibition icon. The distillery was built near the family farm, which had been purchased by Lambert Willett, Thompson's father. In the spring of 1937, Willett Distillery produced its first batch of Kentucky Bourbon Whisky. The rickhouses have been built on some of the most favored land in the county, ensuring the best location with regard to the local environment.
Among the Willets, there are traces of the first family distillations dating back to the end of the 1800s. Today, the descendant family of Thomson Willet and 5th generation of distillers, continues the family tradition and strives to create Bourbons and Ryes of excellence, honoring the liberality and hospitality of the Southern United States.
It is based in Bardstown, Kentucky, and is also the producer of other bourbon whiskeys such as Johnny Drum, Rowan's Creek, Noah's Mill or Old Barstown. The name Willett has long been associated with whiskey in Kentucky. The first distillery bearing Willett's name was opened in 1936, shortly after Prohibition ended. In 2012, 32 years after the closure of the old Willett distillery, the Willett and Kulsveen families re-founded the Willett Distilling Company, which produces 100% of the distillery's whiskeys.
