Sherry cask whisky
Sherry casks are, after bourbon casks, the most used for maturing whisky. A sherry cask is a whisky that has been aged in a cask that has contained Spanish sherry wine: fino, amontillado, oloroso (mainly) or pedro ximenez. Its aromas are marked by dried fruits (nuts, almonds, figs, grapes), cooked and candied fruits, rancio, roasted cocoa or chocolate and bitter orange.
