The collection of Single Casks cognacs from small producers

Through the Grapevine is a collection of independent cognac bottlings, created to unlock the incredible potential of small, passionate producers.

The careful selection of casks for this range is made with the same spirit as that of enthusiastic music lovers seeking rare vinyl editions.

Vallein Tercinier • Petite Champagne Lot 38

Resplendent with maturity, this piece of history comes from the renowned terroir of Petite Champagne, where, more than 80 years ago, the Vallein Tercinier family acquired the Domaine des Forges, located in the heart of Saintonge. This pre-World War II cognac bears witness to a know-how passed down from generation to generation, of which Catherine and Louis Tercinier are the guardians today.

This single cask was distilled in 1938 and matured for more than 60 years in a Limousin oak cask, before being stored in a Dame Jeanne bottles for 20 years in a dry cellar until bottling in September 2022, without reduction at 42,6%.

Maison Prunier • Grande Champagne Lot 47

From the Grande Champagne cru, this version, distilled in 1947, has an astonishing fruity complexity, but also shows an unalterable strength of character and freshness of expression. It was aged for 70 years in Limousin oak barrels in a humid cellar, before being put into dame-jeanne for 5 years and bottled in September 2022 cask strength at 57,8%.

Maison Prunier • Grande Champagne Lot 47

Founded in 1769, Maison Prunier is one of the oldest family businesses in the Cognac region. Owner of its own vineyard near Saint-Jean d’Angély, Prunier also works with local producers and distillers to select eaux-de-vie that are aged in its cellars, located in the heart of the city of Cognac.

Jean Fillioux • Grande Champagne Lot 63

Domaine de la Pouyade in Juillac-le-Coq spans 25 hectares in the Grande Champagne terroir and has been owned by the Fillioux family since 1894. Made predominantly with Colombard and Ugni blanc varieties, this version has been aged in a coarse grain Limousin oak cask and wonderfully illustrates the motto found on the house’s coat of arms: “Prendre de la hauteur pour voir plus loin” (“Go high to see far”).

This version, distilled in 1963, presents fruity and floral sequences that punctuate a complex and aromatic palette. This cognac was aged in a temperate cellar and reduced very slowly before being bottled in September 2022 at 44%.

The bottlings in the Through the Grapevine range each provide their own take on 90 years of a very French tradition.

Vaudon • Fins Bois Lot 75

With an estate spanning 60 hectares in the Fins Bois appellation and 8 hectares in Grande Champagne planted entirely with Ugni Blanc, Pierre Vaudon produces cognacs distilled in two pot stills, each with a capacity of 25 hectolitres.

From the Fins Bois cru, this version was distilled in 1975 and aged alternately in a wet and dry cellar. Bottled at cask strength at 49,5%, it unfolds fruity, vanilla and herbaceous flavours of great complexity.

Château de Beaulon • Fins Bois 1988

The Louis XII and Renaissance style Château de Beaulon has been a listed historic monument since 1987. The vineyard is planted with Folle Blanche, Colombard, Montils and Folignan – with the Ugni Blanc only used to fortify Pineau des Charentes – and located in the commune of Saint-Dizant-du-Gua in the Fins Bois appellation.

Produced solely from the Colombard grape variety and harvested late in order to reach optimal maturity, this perfectly embodies the vision of the estate’s owner Christian Thomas, who aims to create accomplished cognacs. Distilled in 1988, this cognac was aged in Tronçais oak barrels (fine grain) in humid cellar. It was bottled in September without reduction at 55,2%.

Michel Forgeon • Grande Champagne Lot 92

Founded in 1909, this farm estate in Segonzac, in the terroir of Grande Champagne, was planted entirely with grapevines in 1960, when Michel Forgeron took back control of the site. It was not until 1977 that the first Michel Forgeron cognacs were created. The estate, whose vineyard has grown to 27 hectares, is directed by his son Christophe.

With remarkable complexity, this version’s palette of flavours and aromas develops at the pace of medicinal, fruity, herbaceous, floral, spicy and woody sequences whose richness are rivalled only by their nobility. This cognac was distilled in 1992 and aged for 30 years in French oak cask, in both dry and wet cellars and patiently reduced by adding distilled water to be bottled at 47%.

Through the Grapevine’S PRECEPTS

Offbeat

TTG offers a more modern approach to the Cognac world, not ostentatious, and proposes inherently a unique and rare selection.

Authenticity

To celebrate the work of passionate producers and to provide a clear view of this incredible historical and traditional French know-how, TTG bottlings feature cognacs with distinct personalities.

Uniqueness

Uniqueness Only single cask cognacs, ‘single cru’, generally vintaged or from a single harvest and bottled mainly cask strength.

Thoroughness and quality

A clear and precise selection. The panel of experienced tasters selects only eaux-de-vie that have convinced them of their own qualities, all judged blind.

Cru-driven

Because no cru is intrinsically or objectively better than another, TTG works with several producers from all the sub-regions of the appellation, highlighting the plurality of expressions of these terroirs.

Independence

TTG is an independent bottler, which conveys and highlights the story of a producer, from the vine to the glass.
