Purchased by Louis Vallein in 1791, Domaine des Forges is located in the heart of the Saintonge. It was registered as a business in 1850 at the impetus of Vallein’s son Georges. Today, Louis and Catherine Tercinier represent the sixth generation at the helm of the family-run, artisanal cognac house. Made with grapes grown in Petite Champagne, a terroir known for producing very refined eaux de vie, this venerable cognac notably stands out for the ethereal and subtle nature of its fruity and floral tones.

Color : Vieil or.

Nose : full and precise. The wonderfully oxidative first nose allows a glimpse of incredibly distinguished notes of beeswax, dried fruit and nuts (apricot, date), and spices (clove, cardamom). Later, a fine layer of caramel fills the air.

Palate : lively, dynamic. The attack departs from the nose and beams with youth. Staying close to the grape, it then develops a floral register (lily of the valley, lily). The more tertiary mid-palate (lichen, toffee) is tighter and gently tannic. The fruits are now candied.

Overall : long, full. At once herbal (thyme, lime blossom) and tropical (pineapple, persimmon), the start of the finish takes us on a ramble through rows of vines. The after-taste is extremely expressive, evoking a luscious, springtime landscape filled with vine flower fragrances.
