An LMDW exclusive Located in the commune of Macouba in the north of Martinique, the Fonds-Préville plantation was purchased in 1845 by Jean-Marie Martin, who established a distillery there and founded the J.M brand. Acquired by the Crassous de Médeuil family in 1912, it has been part of the Bernard Hayot group since 2002. Completely renovated in 2013, it cultivates on 300 hectares three varieties of sugarcane (roseau, blue, red) from its own nursery. Of pure classicism, this version aged in new American oak casks also shines with its tropical fervour. Its complex aromatic and flavour palette unfolds lively fruity, slightly empyreumatic, floral, and chocolatey sequences.

Nose : Fine, precise. A subtle composition of dried apricot, orange zest, and beeswax, the aromatic palette appears particularly expressive. With aeration, scents of lightly caramelised sugarcane, dark chocolate, geranium, and flambéed banana add ever more depth. Over time, notes of toffee gracefully punctuate this first stage of tasting.

Palate : Serene, accomplished. In perfect continuity with the nose, the flavour palette adds a fitting medicinal and spicy touch (candied ginger, clove, camphor). Tropical (mango, persimmon), tertiary (chestnut, walnut, fig), it then becomes empyreumatic (burnt sugarcane field) and heady (orris concrete, geranium flower).

Overall : Ample, lively. Carried by warm sugarcane flavours, it brings back to the forefront the apricot and orange notes from the first nose. Rooty (gentian), praline-like, earthy, and chocolatey, the retro-nasal highlights its delicate velvety and powdery texture (peach skin, cocoa).
