Located near Eauze, in the Gers region, the Château de Campagne d'Armagnac and its 90 hectares of vineyards were purchased by Pernod Ricard in 1965, through the Société des Produits d'Armagnac, owner of the Marquis de Montesquiou and Comte de Lauvia brands. A still was installed on site and new cellars were built in 1975 to modernize the facilities. The site entered a new era in 2021 when Alexander Stein acquired a majority stake in the Société des Produits d'Armagnac (SPA) and embarked on a major renovation project for the distillery, which had been closed since 2011. Made from the Ugni Blanc grape variety, this version captures all the finesse of the eaux-de-vie produced on the sandy-loam soils of Bas-Armagnac. Built around an expressive rancio, it unfolds notes of mango, prune, and apricot with a beautiful richness as it is tasted.

Nose : Fine, deep. Aromas of prune, dried apricot, varnish, beeswax, orange zest, and toffee create a radiant olfactory sequence of maturity. When aerated, tropical (mango, persimmon), floral (violet, lavender), and spicy (pepper, cinnamon) scents gradually come to the fore.

Palate : Both lively and full-bodied. Initially cocoa-like, almost roasted (coffee, black tea) and tangy (orange zest), the flavor profile evolves toward notes of precious wood (sandalwood), incense, prune, and candied apricot. The tertiary notes linger with delicious flavors of dried fruit (date, hazelnut, walnut).

Overall : Long, silky. Powdery (cocoa, fresh ginger), delicately bitter (dark chocolate, orange), heady (iris) and honeyed (geranium), it is supported by mineral (slate), sandy, and salty notes. Impressively long, the retro-olfaction offers a fruity (prune), toasted (toast) and medicinal (iodine tincture) synthesis of the nose and mouth.
