Nose : From the very first scent, the nose shows great richness. The fruity character (pear, apple) is a constant reminder of the uniqueness of the Distillerie des Menhirs distillate. It doesn't take long for the Pineau des Charentes barrel-ageing to reveal itself, with notes of plum, raisin and red fruit jam.
Palate : The palate is faithful to the nose, rich, with a lovely texture but with plenty of freshness. The mid-palate is marked by beautiful almond paste flavors, entwined in a blend of sweet spices. The finish is more sweet, with buckwheat honey, candied fruit and blood orange.
Overall : The finish is remarkably long, pleasant and heady. The first years of ageing in Cognac casks have given Dorn Ha Dorn enough structure to accommodate an aromatic palette as rich and deep as that of the Pineau des Charentes cask.
