Dillon XO 9 years is a very old AOC agricultural rum made in the pure Martinique tradition. The Dillon house owes its name to the famous Count Arthur Dillon, general and hero of the American War of Independence. Distilled in a Creole column, this rum is aged for 9 years in oak barrels in the tropical climate of Martinique, near Fort-de-France.

Nose : The nose is fresh and fruity at first, with sweet mirabelle plums and apricots; then this fruitiness becomes more jammy as we start to approach prunes and dried figs. Mature cane juice joins this pretty jam, then the whole is surrounded by cedar and tobacco.

Palate : The palate is very tasty, with a nice concentration of cane and rich oak. There is balance on all levels, with spice intense enough to enhance the restrained power, and candied cane that softens the finely peppery wood.

Overall : The finish is filled with roasted nuts, with a green and velvety cane juice that pulls towards the aromatics, and a diffuse hint of menthol in the length.
