    JAPANESE WHISKY : Yoichi 2005 is a peated single malt from Hokkaido in Japan.

    PROFILE : This single malt reveals a full-bodied and elegant profile, featuring notes of peat, dark chocolate, citrus and charcoal. This single cask No. 407529 was matured in a new mizunara oak cask and bottled at cask strength.

    ARTIST : Released by La Maison du Whisky for the Les Anthologistes Collection, the Artist Nikka Whisky range brings together for the first time the two distilleries of the historic Japanese brand, with labels illustrated by Japanese artist Yoshiki Hase.

    Color : vieil or soutenu

    Nose : Full-bodied, elegant. Initially, superb aromas of bitter orange and dark chocolate gradually give way to extremely refined peaty notes. The aromatic profile then evolves harmoniously toward powdery (cacao), empyreumatic (rubber), and heady (iris, honeysuckle) notes.

    Palate : both lively and smooth. Featuring medicinal (bandage, ointment), licorice (zan), and mineral (slate) notes, the flavor profile is refreshed by the tangy juice of various citrus fruits (lemon, grapefruit, kaffir lime). Then, echoing the pastoral character of the nose, it transports us to the middle of a barley field swept by an invigorating breeze.

    Overall : rich, concentrated. Enveloped in a thin layer of caramel and toffee, it reveals a peaty note that has evolved into earthy (gentian), sweet (Aix calisson), and smoky tones. Gradually, flavors of artichoke hearts, asparagus, dried fruits (dates, almonds), and burning Havana cigars lend tremendous originality to a lively finish.
