    JAPANESE WHISKY : Yoichi 1991 is a peated single malt from Hokkaido in Japan.

    PROFILE : This single malt reveals a rich and deep profile, featuring empyreumatic, tarry, rich and precious wood notes. This single cask No. 129880 was matured in a sherry pedro ximénez cask and bottled at cask strength.

    ARTIST : Released by La Maison du Whisky for the Les Anthologistes Collection, the Artist Nikka Whisky range brings together for the first time the two distilleries of the historic Japanese brand, with labels illustrated by Japanese artist Yoshiki Hase.

    Nose : rich, captivating. Reveals, in succession, aromas of lava, soy sauce, 100% dark chocolate, dried fig, currants, prunes, charred black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), pipe tobacco, blood orange, apricot pit, patchouli, celery, precious woods, water lily, humus, wet peat, and more. The aromatic palette displays extraordinary exuberance.

    Palate : full-bodied, velvety. Earthy (gentian), powdery (cocoa), minty, licorice-like (licorice root), roasted (coffee), honeyed (heather), citrusy (blood orange), tertiary (forest floor, chestnut), earthy (potting soil, humus), herbaceous (alfalfa), smoky (charcoal), meaty (bresaola, Bündnerfleisch), etc. The flavor profile features a velvety texture with a highly refined expression.

    Overall : impressively long. Ethereal (incense, eucalyptus), tarry (hot asphalt), exotic (very ripe banana), resinous (pine resin), syrupy (burnt cane sugar, rock candy), rich and indulgent (crème brûlée, tarte Tatin), delicately woody (rosewood, larch), floral (iris concrete), etc. The finish culminates in a grand finale with a retro-olfaction that revisits the entire range of aromas and flavors experienced on the nose and palate.
