    JAPANESE WHISKY : Yoichi 1986 is a peated single malt from Hokkaido in Japan.

    PROFILE : This single malt reveals a complex and deep profile, featuring peat, sea spray, smoky, fruity and medicinal notes. This single cask No. 252819 was matured in a hogshead and bottled at cask strength. To date, this is the oldest version of Yoichi ever bottled.

    ARTIST : Released by La Maison du Whisky for the Les Anthologistes collection, the Artist Nikka Whisky range brings together for the first time the two distilleries of the historic Japanese brand, with labels illustrated by Japanese artist Yoshiki Hase.

    Color : vieil or soutenu.

    Nose : Complex, deep. Featuring fruity (pomegranate, apricot), honeyed (heather), and salty, iodine-rich (seaweed, kelp) notes, the aromatic profile is centered around the delicate scents of peat that is both vegetal and spongy. Gradually, intertwined with menthol and citrus notes, an intense smokiness permeates the light, airy atmosphere.

    Palate : lively, refined. Deliciously nutty (apricot, orange zest), herbal (verbena), ethereal (incense), and spicy (saffron, cardamom), it is simultaneously permeated by the wispy smoke of a subtle Havana cigar. Then, flavors of barley and porridge take over a finish that is both full-bodied and compact (a block of peat).

    Overall : firm, concentrated. Radiant with presence and brightness, it reveals notes of the underworld (soot, ashes, Armenian paper), exotic fruits (persimmon, mango), chocolate, medicinal notes (iodine tincture, cough drops), and malt. The mouth-watering retro-olfaction features notes of licorice (sticks), spice (grated ginger, nutmeg), and peat (potting soil).
