Inspired by the iconic style of the rums produced by the Vale Royal Wedderburn distillery, which closed in 1959, this ester-rich expression comes from a slow fermentation and distillation in one of Long Pond’s three double-retort John Dore stills. Boundlessly generous, its aromatic and flavour profile has developed over time into a remarkably intense and deeply flavorful fruity expression. Veiled with empyreumatic and medicinal nuances, it proudly asserts its Jamaican roots, rooted in a tradition dating back to the mid-18th century.

Color : cuivre orangé soutenu.

Nose : Rich and creamy. Revealing aromas of dried apricot, toffee, roasted nuts, geranium honey, cinnamon, orange, and persimmon, the aromatic profile is gradually overlain with medicinal (mustard, tiger balm), woody, and liqueur-like (cane sugar) scents. Upon aeration, it becomes more chocolaty and herbaceous (Havana tobacco).

Palate : Clear and sharp. Empyreumatic (incense, sandalwood), the flavour profile also reveals new, more tangy citrus notes (lemon, grapefruit). Both highly spicy (pepper, ginger, clove) and medicinal (plaster, arnica), it is also praline-like and abundantly fruity (hazelnut, chestnut, apricot, mango). Dark chocolate and coffee flavours then gradually coat the palate.

Overall : Bright and concentrated. Floral (rose petal, iris), jammy (apricot), and lifted by orange zest, it stretches out over fruity notes (ripe banana, roasted pineapple, persimmon) that fully express its tropical character. In the retro-olfaction, salted butter caramel spreads on both sides of the palate. The empty glass is balsamic (pine) and finely wooded (American oak, eucalyptus).
