PROFILE : This single malt reveals an impressively complex and deep profile, featuring peated, fruity and malted notes. Displaying a phenol level of 50 ppm, this cask strength bottling was matured in a sherry puncheon on the island of Yakushima.

Heavily Peated
Nose : Rich, deep. Initially, scents of rich peat, soot, rancio (brandied cherry, mango), dark chocolate, and polish (varnish, shoe polish) lock in a top-tier olfactory duel. With aeration, the nose turns more malted, spiced (ginger, clove), and fermentative (porridge). Superb.
Palate : Distinguished, full-bodied. Medicinal (tincture of iodine, methylene blue), empyreumatic (charred wood), savory (bacon), and yet simultaneously apricot-driven, citrusy (orange), and bursting with exoticism (mango, persimmon, guava), the palate follows seamlessly from the nose. Saline and mouthwatering, the back palate is adorned with milky, velvety nuances (almond, pecan).
Overall : Long, concentrated. Shrouded in wisps of smoke from a powerful Havana cigar, it reveals itself in turn to be intensely exotic (mango, persimmon), malted (germinating barley), earthy, rooty (gentian), and medicinal (mustard seed). On the retro-olfaction, springtime aromas of dandelion, daffodil, and warm asphalt intertw in most harmonious fashion.
