Based on the original ‘Bitter of Turin’, this recipe dates back to 1860 and is an aperitif featuring an infusion of herbs, roots and aromatic plants including bitter orange peel, absinthe, gentian and rhubarb. Its aromas unleash an almost sacred quality. This may be due to its notes of incense, encaustic paint and flowers. A spirit with a spiritual side.

Nose : A faithful interpretation of church incense. Citrus fruits (orange, clementine), heady florals (iris, lily) and resins (pine, reseda, thuja) enhance the sacred aspect. Summer savory, rosemary, dried herbs and coriander contribute to the atmosphere.

Palate : A wonderful fruity bitterness (apricot, orange). Develops notes of pine honey and clove. Mid-palate, ferns and cypress tree begin to shine through. The palate leads straight into the world of mixology.

Overall : Medicinal with notes of cough drops. Enthusiasts will be enthralled to find a healthy helping of exoticism here (pineapple, mango), as well as florals (lilac, lavender) and green walnuts. The retronasal olfaction returns to incense and encaustic paint (wax, wood filler) for a spiritual feel.
