Founded in 2014 and known for producing gin and vodka, New Zealand’s Scapegrace distillery launched its first whiskies in 2022. In October 2023, the owners opened a new production site on the banks of Lake Dunstan in the Southern Alps of New Zealand. This version’s very concentrated palette of aromas and flavours stylishly reproduces incredibly intense notes of fruit, spices, plants and precious wood;

Color : Jaune doré intense.

Nose : Rich, concentrated. The vanilla (pod), medicinal (ointment) and woody (new oak) first nose reveals imposing presence. Allowed to breathe, the aroma palette develops more fruity (banana, Mirabelle plum), empyreumatic (polish, beeswax) and herbal (cut hay) registers.

Palate : Powerful, lively. The honeyed (acacia), vanilla and milky (coconut) attack is also herbal (ivy, moss) and mineral (chalk, slate). The spicy (clove, ginger) and hot (Espelette pepper) mid-palate is drawn out by nutty flavours (cashew, hazelnut).

Overall : Long, full. The start of the finish is marked by candied citrus fruits (grapefruit, lemon). The sapid after-taste returns in force to the attack’s honey notes, incorporating lovely green (barley) and salty (fleur de sel) touches.
