The colourful figure behind the Italian bottlers Sestante is Ernesto Mainardi, who, like many of his importer-distributor colleagues, began his career as a sales representative, before opening a bar in Parma and then founding his own import company in the early 1980s. Ernest immediately set himself apart by offering two versions of every bottling, one at cask strength and the other at 40% ABV. But it was above all the incredible quality of his selections from renowned distilleries and brokers, including the mythical Bowmore 1965 and 1971, that enabled him to develop limited editions for other bars and establishments.
