PROFILE : This single malt reveals a rich and deep profile, featuring chocolate, floral, candied, camphor and musky notes. Selected exclusively by La Maison du Whisky for the Les Anthologistes Collection, this single cask No. 4402 was matured in a sherry cask and bottled at cask strength.
INDEPENDENT BOTTLER : Created in 2009 by independent bottler Elixir Distillers and named after the small port located on the north-east coast of Islay, the Port Askaig collection has established itself as an essential signature in the world of peated whiskies.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS : This scotch whisky can be enjoyed neat in a tulip or Glencairn glass.

Nose : Rich, deep. Fragrances of dark chocolate, faded rose, purple lilac, candied orange, quince, heather honey, camphor, musk, apricot, currant, leather, smoked meat, mango, passion fruit… embellish an aromatic palette deeply rooted in peat. With aeration, scents of toast and violet licorice bring it even more complexity.
Palate : Palate: refined, elegant. Perfectly balanced, the flavor palette is marked by intense flavors of toffee, smoked fish, ginger root, and orange zest. Then, a gentle ashy acridity, strong spices (clove, nutmeg), and notes of ointment gradually coat the taste buds. In the background, blocks of peat form an earthy backdrop.
Overall : Silky, suave. Returning to center stage, the same fat peat, gorged with mineral salts, has irrevocably taken over the entirety of a particularly voluptuous finish. In the retro-olfaction, roasted mangoes, dried apricots, and candied oranges accompany flavors of bacon, soot, toast, and toffee. Peat and sherry play on equal terms.
