Located at the entrance to Brecon Beacons National Park, famous for its many waterfalls, Penderyn was inaugurated in 2000. In 2014, in addition to the two stills designed by engineer David Faraday, the distillery acquired two traditional pot stills in which this whisky, made from locally grown barley, was distilled. Full-bodied, deep, and elegant, this version highlights the very essence of single malt: malted barley. Its abundant fruity, floral, and salty notes add remarkable distinction and freshness to its aromatic and flavor profile.

Nose : Fine, deep. Very complex, the aromatic palette is at once malty, mentholated, floral (lily of the valley, jasmine), lemony, vanilla and fruity (apple and green walnuts). On aeration, scents of freshly cut barley spread delicately through the atmosphere. White mint adds a lively medicinal touch.

Appearance : Or vif.

Palate : Lively, racy. With a particularly subtle texture, the palette of flavors is radiant with freshness. Airy, it takes us over malty, herbaceous (alfalfa), fruity (pear, greengage) and elegantly woody (eucalyptus) lands that are as natural and authentic as they come. Then, various infusions (verbena, mint) gradually permeate the taste buds.

Overall : Long, eloquent. Fine tannins reminiscent of white grape bloom provide flesh and creaminess to a finish that quickly evolves into creamier, vanilla registers. In the aftertaste, green almond flavors lend consistency to a deliciously crisp, saline (samphire) retro-olfaction.
