This very small 19 year-old bottling was matured for two years in armagnac barrels. It was even voted best rum in the world in 2008. A must for spirits enthusiasts!
Nose : rich, unctuous. Cocoa beans and rancio (cherries in brandy) precede medicinal and spicy notes (pepper, cumin). It evolves with fruit paste and candied fruit.
Palate : dense, generous. Slices of spice bread follow one another! A blend of cinnamon, cloves and cardamom... Joined for the finale by some notes of red fruit (strawberries and raspberries).
Overall : soft, mellow. Beeswax and nutmeg suggest a cigar. Lingers with toasted walnuts and moss. Flavourful, the retro-olfaction is slightly animal (bacon).

Très surprenant au niveau du goût, ce mélange de fumé de porto et de bourbon donne une ouverture d'esprit au niveau de l'appellation du rhum (peut être une autre concerption donnée à la saveur du rhum). en tous cas belle découverte pour un amateur de rhums souvent vanillés !
