On 8 January 1920, Nikka's founder, Masataka Taketsuru, married Jessie Roberta Cowen, better known as Rita, in Glasgow. This year, Nikka would like to share the commemoration of this 100th wedding anniversary with you, with this limited edition. This single malt from the Miyagikyo distillery finished maturing in casks that formerly contained brandy. Apples are a powerful symbol of the Nikka story. They are a recurring theme in the relationship between Rita and Masataka. In fact she encouraged him to start his business by selling apple juice and jam while the first whiskies were ageing in the cellars._x000D_

Color : Or à reflets verts.

Nose : Charming, complex. A perfectly rounded first nose that subtly combines apple, vanilla, and honey with slight notes of sage and verbena. Evolving on notes of stewed or baked apples, a captivating woodiness blends in, arriving with spicy notes, such as ginger and cinnamon.

Palate : Creamy and lively, the attack perfectly replicates the nuances of the aromatic palette, while mid-palate is remarkably malty, revealing an outstanding freshness. Gradually, the palette becomes all the more exotic - pineapple, lychee, and kiwi develop as the entire palate is coated with acacia honey.

Overall : Long, alluring. With just a hint of salt, the finish manifests itself with hay and malt, while plush tannins gently tighten the taste buds. The aftertaste is of herbal tea, with rosemary, mint, and linden tree flowers adding a floral dimension overall. The empty glass evokes some notes of toasted wood such as oak, cypress and pine.
