    JAPANESE WHISKY : Miyagikyo 2010 is a single malt from Sendai in Japan.

    PROFILE : This single malt unveils an ample and noble profile, featuring floral, tropical fruit, rancio and gingerbread notes. This single cask No. 125992 was matured in a hogshead that had contained port and bottled at cask strength.

    ARTIST : Released by La Maison du Whisky for the Les Anthologistes Collection, the Artist Nikka Whisky range brings together for the first time the two distilleries of the historic Japanese brand, with labels illustrated by Japanese artist Yoshiki Hase.

    Color : cuivre orangé

    Nose : full-bodied, elegant. At once floral (cornflower, heather, cherry blossom), herbaceous (tobacco leaf), fruity (orange zest, apricot), balsamic (fir), spicy (cumin, green pepper), and sweet (toffee), the aromatic profile is a pure delight. As it matures, it becomes increasingly complex, developing more autumnal (mushroom, chestnut), oriental (saffron, turmeric), and chocolatey notes over time.

    Palate : rich and full-bodied. Closely linked to the nose, the flavor profile is powdery (cocoa), exotic (mango, persimmon), syrupy (quince jelly), and spicy (cardamom, nutmeg). Then, flavors of praline, gingerbread, and candied fruit (cherry, mandarin, guava) permeate a silky finish.

    Overall : velvety, deep. In turn, it is rich and indulgent (gingerbread, roasted pineapple), lingering on notes of black fruits (grapes, cherries) and dried fruits (figs, dates, apricots) that highlight the wine’s very appreciable Port influence. On the retro-olfaction, a subtle layer of salted butter caramel gradually coats the taste buds.
