    JAPANESE WHISKY : Miyagikyo 2000 is a single malt from Sendai in Japan.

    PROFILE : This single malt reveals a rich and deep profile, featuring peated, medicinal, spicy and tropical fruit notes. This single cask No. 117935 was matured in an oloroso sherry butt and bottled at cask strength.

    ARTIST : Released by La Maison du Whisky for the Les Anthologistes Collection, the Artist Nikka Whisky range brings together for the first time the two distilleries of the historic Japanese brand, with labels illustrated by Japanese artist Yoshiki Hase.

    Color : acajou

    Nose : rich, full-bodied. Smoky notes of charcoal, dry peat, and iodine tincture initially fill the entire olfactory space. As it breathes, aromas of gentian, ash, Tiger Balm, and cloves accentuate the medicinal and heady character of the flavor profile.

    Palate : concentrated, invigorating. Also imbued with medicinal, smoky, and earthy (humus) flavors, the flavor profile reveals notes of chocolate and licorice (zan). Gradually, enveloped by a thin layer of caramel, citrus zest (orange, mandarin), and exotic fruits (mango, persimmon) lead it toward more tart and syrupy notes.

    Overall : long, dynamic. A magnificent synthesis of the nose and palate, it is at once root-like (gentian), earthy, ashy, medicinal, chocolatey, fruity, and spicy. Particularly mouth-watering, the very end of the finish highlights its animal (bacon), salty, milky (almond), and licorice notes.
