    JAPANESE WHISKY : Miyagikyo 1986 is a single malt from Sendai in Japan.

    PROFILE : This single malt reveals a rich and full-bodied profile, featuring medicinal, oxidative, chocolate and heady notes. This single cask No. 78858 was matured in a virgin American oak cask and bottled at cask strength. To date, this is the oldest version of Miyagikyo ever bottled.

    ARTIST : Released by La Maison du Whisky for the Les Anthologistes Collection, the Artist Nikka Whisky range brings together for the first time the two distilleries of the historic Japanese brand, with labels illustrated by Japanese artist Yoshiki Hase.

    Color : cuivre orangé soutenu

    Nose : rich, concentrated. With medicinal (mustard), powdery (cocoa), empyreumatic (burnt wood, varnish), and heady (iris concrete, broom, heather) notes, the aromatic profile is particularly sunny. Upon aeration, fabulous notes of rancio (cherry in brandy, straw wine) lend it even more elegance and class.

    Palate : lively, taut. With notes of praline and roasted coffee, the flavor profile also reveals hints of pipe tobacco, roasted banana and mango, quince jelly, and toasted walnuts of rare intensity. With time, it transports us through the woods to gather prized mushrooms (porcini, truffles, chanterelles).

    Overall : serene, full-bodied. With subtle notes of licorice and a hint of milk tea, it also reveals spicy notes (grated ginger, cinnamon), a deliciously bitter edge (dark chocolate), and a hint of fermentation (porridge). Aromas of heather honey, pine resin, and precious woods permeate the after-smell and the empty glass, in perfect harmony.
