ONNA JYOSHU

Founded in 1787 in Iwamura, Gifu Prefecture, Iwamura Jōzō has been led by the Watarai family for seven generations. Originally a producer of miso and soy sauce, the brewery transitioned to focus exclusively on sake in the mid-20th century.

Deeply rooted in its terroir, the house utilizes local rice and water from a legendary well over 400 years old. Its flagship range, Onna-Jōshu (The Lady of the Castle), pays tribute to Otsuya no Kata, a significant historical figure of Iwamura Castle.
