Founded in 1911 in Ina, Nagano, Miyajima Brewery is currently led by the Minakuchi family under the presidency of Hiroshi Minakuchi—a former astronomer who brought his scientific precision to the art of sake. The house uses exclusively local organic rice and pure mountain water to produce sakes of remarkable finesse and clarity.

The brewery prioritizes high rice-polishing ratios, low-temperature fermentation, and precise yeast control to create elegant Junmai sakes while exploring innovative new approaches. The name Miyajima evokes light and purity, reflecting a deep commitment to creating harmonious sakes rooted in the nature of Shinshu.
