PROFILE : This single malt reveals a dense and precise profile, featuring peated, chocolate, waxy, fruity and vanilla notes. Crafted from heavily peated scotch whisky malt (40 to 50 ppm) and distilled in a pot still after a fermentation of around fifty hours, this cask-strength bottling was matured in a first-fill bourbon cask.

Nose : Full-bodied, deep. At first nosing, aromas of germinating barley take centre stage. Around them unfold earthy, root-like, phenolic, mineral (slate) and animal notes (smoked ham and smoked fish). Hints of fruit (mirabelle plum) and honeyed aromas (acacia honey) also drift through the background.
Palate : Rich, smooth. With flavours of a burning cigar, soot and charcoal, the palate naturally follows on from the nose, also revealing its profoundly malty character. Very linear in structure, it gradually develops into a more heady expression, with notes of lily and iris concrete, alongside vegetal nuances (alfalfa, clover) and chocolate tones.
Overall : Dense, assertive. Saline, iodine-driven (seaweed, sea spray) and gamey (royal hare), it mirrors the nose with its phenolic character (petrol, tar), while being enlivened and refreshed by the tangy juice of numerous citrus fruits (grapefruit, lemon). On the retronasal finish, exotic fruits (pineapple, banana), lavender honey and Russian leather aromas enhance a lingering finish enveloped in intense smoke.
