    Located in Burnie, in northern Tasmania, Hellyers Road Distillery was founded in 1999, with its first whisky released in 2006. Made from a specific barley variety sourced from Bairds of Inverness maltings, this “Richly Peated” version, matured in first-fill bourbon casks, perfectly captures the distinctive Hellyers Road style. Driven by a generous peat that guides the tasting experience, its aromatic and flavour profile unfolds with originality and elegance—from fruity to floral, spicy, herbal, balsamic and even saline notes.

    Nose : Vivid, complex. Oily peat, delicate smoke (Havana cigar), candied citrus (grapefruit), heady florals (broom, mimosa), fleur de sel, green olives, fresh walnuts, a pinch of clove, and tiger balm—all clearly expressed and revealing the aromatic depth of this whisky.

    Palate : Lively, characterful. Wonderfully balanced, the palate retains the malty and herbal imprint that defines it from the outset. Gradually, a liquorice-tinged, saline peat (seaweed) takes centre stage, followed by fresh fruits (pear, mirabelle) and creamier notes (coconut, almond).

    Overall : Long, layered. Straw, dried twigs and soot mingle with indulgent touches of milk flan and rice pudding. Balsamic (thuja, pine), the retro-nasal aromas are lifted by zucchini flower, green tomato, fresh ginger and malted barley.
