This Glenglassaugh, distilled in 1986, aged 37 years in bourbon barrel before being bottled at its natural strength of 52.5%. This fruity, exotic Highland single malt opens with aromas of honey, apple and banana. The Glenglassaugh distillery, founded in 1875 on Scotland's northeast coast, is a real Speyside nugget. Long in the shadows, the distillery closed for several periods before being reborn in 2008, reviving its unique marine character. Glenglassaugh's proximity to the North Sea lends its whiskies subtle saline notes, a nod to its coastal environment. Created in 1968 by the great whisky visionary, “Mr George” Urquhart, the “Connoisseurs Choice” range now includes over 2,000 bottlings from a hundred Scottish distilleries. The story behind each “Connoisseurs Choice” whisky is told on its label: cask type, bottling date, degree, vintage and tasting notes. Always unchill-filtered, these rare single casks and small-batch expressions have been created thanks to Gordon & MacPhail's unique expertise in marrying distillate and oak casks, passed down through four generations of the same family.
