Located three miles south of Elgin, in the Speyside hamlet of Fogwatt, Glen Elgin produces whiskies prized for their fresh, fruity character, complemented by the depth provided by its worm tub condensers. This 18-year-old single malt, finished in an ex-Moscatel cask, showcases exquisite balance between brightness and sweetness. The nose combines crisp green apple with rich dates and warm brown sugar, lifted by tangy orange marmalade. On the palate, the Moscatel cask influence unfolds with layers of golden sultanas, caramelised nuts, and lightly spiced stone fruits dusted with nutmeg, all enveloped in a silky, honeyed texture. The finish lingers on dried fruits, a hint of nutmeg, and a whisper of sweet cherries, offering a harmonious interplay of vibrant freshness and rounded sweetness. This whisky is part of the Odyssey range, an annual collection of 20 carefully selected casks, re-racked for a second maturation of at least three years. Each bottle explores the possibilities of controlled aging, charting a unique journey through the influence of the wood.
