EDRADOUR 10 ans 2008 The Chronicles Signatory Vintage

Nose : full-bodied, complex. Blood orange, very apricot rancio, very ripe bramble, chocolate, peach stone, precious wood, the enveloping smells of a warehouse... this is what is found in a particularly well-developed aromatic sequence whose charm is quite simply irresistible. Next, sweet chestnut honey, zan liquorice sweets, heady florals (lily, freesia), brandied cherries, and malted barley arrive in abundance to beautifully strengthen the smooth nature of the aromatic palette.

Palate : clear-cut, radiant. The attack reveals pure classicism. Its contours drawn in Indian ink are entirely dedicated to fruit and malted barley, before cut hay, dried apricot, ginger and sweet almond spread their flavours across the palate. Next, with a flick of a magic wand, the mid-palate brings back childhood memories with rare intensity, revealing candy floss, grenadine, purple violets and fraise tagada.

Overall : long, silky. Sherry and malted barley rival each other for presence. This magnificently orchestrated dual gives the flavour palette burnt sienna tints of astonishing beauty. The incredibly juicy end of the palate is like biting into whole bunches of black grapes. The timeless retronasal olfaction shows lots of maturity. The empty glass is deliciously camphoric, exotic (banana, pineapple) and empyreumatic (cigar, burnt wood). Exceptional.
