COCCHI Americano Bianco

Cocchi Americano is a flavoured wine created in 1891 by Giulio Cocchi and has been produced without interruption according to the original recipe ever since. The label features the original avant-garde rooster designed in the 1930s, representing its function as an aperitif ("it awakens the appetite") and one of the symbols of the town of Asti, where it is known as the aperitif of choice. The Americano is a white wine with a small amount of bitter alcohol, infused with quality herbs and spices: gentian leaves and flowers, artemisia, cinchona, bitter orange peel, elderflower and more. The name "Americano" is linked both to the alcohol made bitter ("amaricato") by the addition of herbs and spices and to the American habit of drinking vermouth with ice, accompanied by a splash of soda water. The Americano Spritz is served in this way in a wine glass with a dry sparkling wine added. In the summer it can also be served neat in a glass filled with crushed ice. In mixology, Cocchi Americano is very popular with bartenders, especially for recapturing the original taste of classic cocktails using quinchina, such as the Vesper Martini, the Corpse Reviver #2 or the White Negroni. It pairs particularly well with white spirits such as gin, vodka and mezcal, but also provides an ideal base for the new low-alcohol cocktail trend.
