Located in southern Jamaica, the Clarendon distillery was founded in 1949. It is equipped with a Vendôme pot still, a “Calandria-i” pot still manufactured in India, and since 2009, a quadruple distillation column in which this rum selected by Velier was distilled. With an ester content exceeding ten grams per hectolitre of pure alcohol, this expression reveals an aromatic and flavour profile that is simultaneously empyreumatic, medicinal, praline-like, and abundantly fruity. Throughout the tasting, it demonstrates originality full of exuberance and great complexity.

Color : vieil or soutenu.

Nose : Rich and profound. With medicinal notes intertwined with beeswax, iris concrete, and macerated fruits (pineapple, mango, banana), the aromatic profile combines originality and exuberance. Upon aeration, scents of incense, varnish, and blooming geranium mingle with more praline and tar-like aromas.

Palate : Both fresh and heady. Precisely reproducing the tropical, floral, and oxidative character of the nose, the flavour profile is supported by a delicate mouthfeel. Over time, notes of mushrooms, lichen, and dried dates highlight its tertiary evolution.

Overall : Full-bodied and silky. Flavours of orange peel, dried apricot, and currants add a touch of classicism to a finish also marked by notes of toffee, milk tea, and candied ginger. Eminently Jamaican, the retro-olfaction is empyreumatic, mineral, and petrol-like.
