La Chartreuse Verte gets its unique character from its natural color, its power and its aromatic complexity coming from 130 plants, flowers, barks, roots and spices.
Its elaboration requires several weeks of work and is done in various stages:
- Milling elaborated by the monks in the plant room at the Grande Chartreuse monastery.
- Distillation to obtain the aroma.
- Different types of macerations that allow the extraction of the active principles of the plants and give the liqueur its natural color.
Resulting from a work of distillation, maceration, extraction, cold infusion of 130 plants, it is then aged in oak casks before being bottled and continues to develop its complexity.
