Velier Art Series
Velier has unveiled a new range of four Caribbean rums from Faubert Casimir (Haiti), Clarendon and Long Pond (Jamaica), and Trinidad and Tobago’s defunct Ten Cane distillery.
The series features art from Velier CEO Luca Gargano’s private collection. Within the past few years Gargano, a great collector of rum and lover of art, has assembled a large trove of paintings by African and Caribbean artists both up-and-coming and internationally famous.
To illustrate the labels on these single casks, Velier has selected works by painter Préfète Duffaut—a major figure of Haitian naïve art and founding member of the Centre d’Art de Port-au-Prince—and by three contemporary African artists: Kofi Awuyah's and Ablade Glover from Ghana, and Anedu Edozie from Nigeria.
Upcoming releases will showcase more works from this eclectic and abundant collection, which comprises a hundred-odd paintings: abstract and figurative works, portraits, urban scenes and landscapes, all echoing Luca Gargano’s travels around the world.
