PROFILE : This single malt reveals a rich and powerful profile, featuring root, heady, praline, medicinal and empyreumatic notes. Falling into the unpeated category, this single cask No. 400372 was selected exclusively by La Maison du Whisky for the Les Anthologistes Collection. It was matured in a first-fill oloroso sherry cask and bottled at cask strength.

Nose : rich, powerful. Initially rooty (gentian) and saline, the aromatic palette quickly develops heady floral notes (lily, lily of the valley), praline, medicinal notes (Tiger Balm) and empyreumatic aromas (menthol, eucalyptus), all equally expressive. Then, dried fruits (almond, walnut, raisin) delicately permeate the aromatic profile.

Palate : lively, noble. Herbal (cut hay, straw), oily (olive), indulgent (biscuit) and fermentative (porridge), the palate develops towards camphorated and powdery notes (cocoa). Rustic and floral (dandelion, daffodil), spicy (Cayenne pepper) and medicinal (iodine tincture), it becomes increasingly malty over time (barley porridge, oatcake).

Overall : long, smooth. Coated in a fine layer of salted butter caramel, it is at once camphorated, jammy (apple, mirabelle plum) and maritime (samphire, pig’s ear). On the retro-olfaction, savoury animal notes (bacon, smoked fish) mingle with candied citrus fruits (orange, mandarin), cocoa powder and gentian.
