SCOTCH WHISKY : Braeval 28 Year Old 1998 is a single malt from Speyside in Scotland.

PROFILE : This single malt reveals a fresh and elegant profile, featuring green, vanilla and fruity notes. Selected exclusively by La Maison du Whisky for the Les Anthologistes Collection, this single cask No. 26005 was matured in a second-fill American oak cask and bottled at cask strength.

INDEPENDENT BOTTLER : Founded in 1895, Gordon & MacPhail is one of the oldest and most prestigious independent bottlers in Scotland, renowned for its exceptional mastery of maturation. Created in 1968, the historic Connoisseurs Choice range highlights exceptional single casks and small batches of single malt.

Nose : fresh and elegant. Initially, lovely herbal aromas (cut hay, alfalfa), candied citrus notes (lemon, grapefruit), vanilla and wax (candle wax) take centre stage. With aeration, the aromatic profile becomes more exotic (pineapple, banana), peppery and liquorice-like (liquorice stick).

Palate : refined and full. In turn vanilla-led, smooth and juicy (Williams pear, Golden apple), the palate also invites us to enjoy delicious courgette flower fritters. Increasingly vegetal (nettle, watercress), it gradually develops medicinal (Tiger Balm), honeyed (acacia) and infused herbal notes (sage, rosemary), all bursting with vitality.

Overall : harmonious and distinguished. At once malty, saline and herbal (grass, clover), it revisits, one after another, the fruity and vanilla notes revealed on the nose and palate. Gently honeyed, the retro-olfaction shines with a bucolic, pastoral character (dandelion, buttercup) and refreshing menthol notes.
