BOURBON : Black Maple Hill 11 Year Old is a straight bourbon from Kentucky in the United States.

PROFILE : This straight bourbon reveals an exuberant and deep profile, featuring cereal, fruity, spicy, roasted and vanilla notes. Selected exclusively by La Maison du Whisky for the Les Anthologistes Collection, this single barrel No. 942 was bottled from a single cask, without chill filtration.

INDEPENDENT BOTTLER : Marking the return of the historic Black Maple Hill brand to its native Kentucky, this exceptional expression is the result of a selection made in partnership with independent bottler Rare Character and the famous Jack Rose Dining Saloon bar in Washington D.C.

Color : cuivre orangé.

Nose : Rich, intense. Right out of the glass, vibrant notes of sweet corn, rich toffee, earthy cumin, and violet-scented licorice leap forward. As the dram breathes, the bouquet opens up with refined baking spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, clove), layered with elegant vanilla and delicate florals (iris, lily). It rounds out with decadent, mouth-watering hints of warm carrot cake and spiced gingerbread.

Palate : Dense, full-bodied. Refreshed by citrus zest (lime, Seville orange) and invigorated by medicinal flavors (ointment), the palate is bright and radiant. Rooty (gentian), saline, and subtly licoriced (liquorice stick), the late palate feeds on an array of dried nuts (hazelnut, pecan, chestnut) and exotic fruits (mango, persimmon).

Overall : Long, sleek. Powdery (rice, cinnamon) and herbaceous (pipe tobacco), over time it turns delicately rancio-tinged (apricot, freshly squeezed orange) and camphoraceous. Sappy (pine resin), exotic (passion fruit, pineapple), praline-laced, and noble-spiced (cardamom), the retro-olfaction is a magnificent synthesis of the nose and palate.
