The Benriach distillery began producing peated single malt for the first time in 1972. Its malting floors were closed in 1998. However, since 2013, it has very sporadically resumed malting some of its barley. If this version, which has a phenol content of 35 ppm, had to be defined in a single word, it would undoubtedly be 'elegant': from its incredibly pure distillate, through its highly complex fruitiness, to its peat, which is always marked by a profound refinement, even in the hydrocarbon notes it reveals.
