This Balvenie single malt has been aged for 21 years in traditional barrels and then finished for a few months in barrels that have held prestigious ports for 30 consecutive years.
Nose : mellow notes of precious wood (rosewood) and spices (pepper).
Palate : lovely liveliness, it evolves with citrus fruit. (oranges) and ripe fruit (peaches). Unctuous notes of fresh grapes and light rancio (very ripe fruit, apricots, walnuts) underscore the port barrel finish.
Overall : characterised by subtle notes of undergrowth (oak, mushrooms), it also reveals the bitter-sweetness of malted barley.
