SCOTCH WHISKY : The Ardmore 14 Year Old 2012 is a single malt from the Highlands in Scotland.

PROFILE : This single malt reveals a lively and powerful profile, featuring rancio, peated, medicinal, spicy and fruity notes. Selected exclusively by La Maison du Whisky for the Les Anthologistes Collection, this single cask No. 20 was matured in a rivesaltes cask and bottled at cask strength.

INDEPENDENT BOTTLER : Founded in 1988 by Andrew Symington, Signatory Vintage is one of Scotland's most respected independent bottlers. Its famous Cask Strength Collection highlights exceptional single casks bottled at their natural strength, without chill-filtration or colouring.

Nose : lively, powerful. Revealing rancio aromas (cherries in eau-de-vie, wild blackberry) characteristic of Rivesaltes naturally sweet wine, alongside scents of dry peat, the aromatic palette is particularly exuberant and expressive. With aeration, the peat takes the lead, developing medicinal, spicy (Cayenne pepper), malty and smoky (cigar) tones.

Palate : refined, slender. Apricot-like, jammy (quince) and pleasantly saline, the palate is in turn influenced by flavours of dry peat. Gradually, squares of dark chocolate, soot and powerful spices (clove, nutmeg) bring considerable energy to an abundantly fruity finish (melon, mandarin).

Overall : both smooth and firm. Balsamic (thuja, cypress), camphorated and empyreumatic (dry twigs), it is underpinned by a minerality that is both firm and delicate (tar, bitumen, charcoal). Headily floral (old rose, carnation), stewed (marmalade) and oxidative (ripe grapes), the retro-olfaction recreates the atmosphere of the Côtes du Roussillon vineyards at harvest time.
