Weller Antique 107 is a wheated bourbon, which means its second grain is wheat rather than the more common rye. 107 refers to the proof, the equivalent of 53.5% ABV. Weller Antique 107 was originally a 7 year old but this specification was later abandoned. The brand was initially produced at the Stitzel-Weller distillery, which was sold by Julian Van Winkle II in 1972. It became part of Distillers Company Limited in 1984, who significantly increased its production capacities, before closing it in 1992 to focus on the newly renovated Bernheim distillery. At the end of the century, DCL—which later became United Distillers and then Diageo—sold Stitzel-Weller’s stock and the brand to the Sazerac group, which continues to produce it at the Buffalo Trace distillery today.
