Located in the northeast Highlands, the Teaninich distillery, founded in 1817, produces whiskies mainly for Scotland’s famous blends and is distinguished by its rare use of a mash filter instead of a traditional mash tun. This 14-year-old single malt, finished in an ex-Margaux cask, opens with a gourmand nose of milk chocolate, almonds, and subtle red fruits. The palate reveals richer flavors of cassis, plum, and damson, enhanced by the cask influence. A drop of water brings out crisp green apple and fresh citrus, revealing an unsuspected complexity that unfolds over time. This whisky is part of the Odyssey range, an annual collection of 20 carefully selected casks, re-racked for a second maturation of at least three years. Each bottle explores the possibilities of controlled aging, charting a unique journey through the influence of the wood.
