TAKAMAKA Pti Lakaz Batch #2

A unique expression of the Seychelles distillery, Pti Lakaz batch no. 2 is the fruit of a meticulous blend devised by Steven Rioux, Master Blender at Takamaka. First, rums made from the pure juice of sugar cane grown and distilled in the Seychelles, aged 4 years in new French oak barrels and 3 years and 11 months in ex-porto barrels. Next comes an 8-year-old rum produced by Foursquare in Barbados and a molasses rum distilled by Takamaka in the Seychelles, then aged for 3 years in ex-bourbon barrels. This blend rests for 90 days in vats, then is slowly reduced to perfect intensity. Bottled at 45.1% ABV with no added color or sugar, and not chill-filtered. On tasting, rich, dried apricot fruit stands out, with hints of star anise and prunes developing. The finish is complex and full of dry spices. Rich and complex. Dry apricot, star anise and pepper.
