With the highest alcohol content in a range of 5 products, Stroh 80 is an Austrian drink created in 1832 in the Inländer-Rum tradition; these were spirits from countries in which the Austrian empire had no colonies, blended together to reproduce the flavour of a rum. Produced today from a sugar cane alcohol base (in accordance with European legislation), this spiced rum has been masterfully assembled. Used, at least in its strongest versions, in cooking and for preparing traditional punches, Stroh 80 has become an essential feature of Austrian culinary culture. Nose : Powerful and incredibly indulgent. Characterised by intense aromas of vanilla, melted butter, caramel and bitter almond essence, enhanced by a hint of sweet spices.
Palate : Warm and enveloping. The initial impression is striking due to the high alcohol content, but quickly gives way to rich flavours of gingerbread, vanilla rum, prunes and chocolate.
Overall : Long and lingering. It lingers on notes of burnt caramel, vanilla and spices, with a very pronounced alcoholic warmth.
